About Sales & Goodwin Family Tree
Please sign in to see more.
Introduction

I have been working on my family tree for about 10 years and this website is a dedicated home for it. My tree has been researched from the perspective of 2 families: Sales and Goodwin.

There are 2 distinct Sales families in the UK, one in the South East and one in the North East/East Midlands. I've not found any relationship between the two yet. My particular Sales family are the ones that lived around the Humber estuary. My particular line is the Sales who moved down from there to live on the South coast in Chichester - Joseph Chesman Sales.

My particular Goodwin family is the one that lived around Nottinghamshire. However, they are hard to trace before the middle of the 19th century.

Living Family

I have a very big family descended from my Grandparents - mostly from the Sales side. A total of:

4 Aunts/Uncles
 13 Cousins
 4 Half Siblings
 1 Sister
 1 Son
 7 Nieces/Nephews
 9 Grand Nieces/Nephews
 15+ 1st Cousins Once Removed
 1 1st Cousin Twice Removed

Sadly, life gets in the way of seeing most of them but it's nice to know the family is so active!

Background

My interest in family history started with my father's stories of various family members and their stories that he grew up with. We decided to put together a family tree in 2001 and our initial attempt was entirely from his memory. I have included a copy of our first attempt in the photo gallery and I'm sure you will be surprised how accurate he got it!

Using the website

If you are part of the family I recommend you use the locator tool. Go to 'Home' underneath the tree picture in the top left corner, hover the mouse pointer over it and click on 'locator'. This lets the website know who you are and reports/trees are tailored to your part of the family.

If you would like to add a photo to the photo album please send the photo to this e-mail address: salesgoodwin-4001@tribalpages.com

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
